Rules, Rewards, and Consequences
The following ten rules correspond to the behavior portion of your child's report card. We have discussed them in detail in the classroom and will talk about them often during the year.
They are expected to be adhered to in our classroom as well as outside of our classroom.
1. Demonstrates self-control in a variety of situations
2. Accepts responsibility for actions
3. Respects self and others
4. Works cooperatively with others
5. Follows written and oral directions
6. Uses time effectively
7. Does neat, orderly work
8. Completes assignments on time
9. Demonstrates organizational skills
10. Demonstrates acceptable effort
Children will be rewarded for positive behavior in the form of praise, free time, extra recess, stickers, lunch with the teacher, and the weekly Fun Friday.
When there is a behavior infraction inside or outside of the classroom or there is a pattern of incomplete homework, a Think Sheet will be completed and sent home for you to sign. Students who have had no behavior infractions and who have had all work completed on time during the week will be allowed to participate in the weekly Fun Friday activity.
The consequences for not adhering to the rules above are:
1. Verbal warning for behavior
2. Think Sheet, possible loss of recess or walk along the Peace Path
3. Note or telephone calls home may be made
4. Serious infractions - referral to the principal's office
Students who have been absent may be asked to stay inside at recess and make up missed work without penalty.
Thank you for your support,
Miss Sheri Hogland
